It was really cool last week to feel so encouraged and see all the support and love when I announced my new work opportunity! It was weird to hear people tell me I deserve this or that they are proud of me?? But it was nice. So thanks guys! :D🤩🥳
This post contains affiliate and referral links- so I can get commissions that enable me to support my ministry and family and continue running this site! 😉
I have mostly worked from home the last few years, running my etsy shop, selling Lilla Rose(hair accessories) and Prime My Body(hemp products), running the online part of our ministry(plus travel), doing constant fundraisers, working for various affiliate programs, and selling miscellaneous things whenever and wherever possible. I have done a lot of random things but I have truly hustled. There have been times in the past couple years where I went back to a standard job to try and catch up on finances but every time I ended up making LESS money than I could from home, and the hassles, the sacrifice of my mind, heart, and body, and being away from my special needs pets, were truly not worth it. It has been a blessing to work only from home (other than house sitting, pet sitting, and baby sitting at others homes) for around 2 years now I think? I have been able to recover from a lot, revive some of my pets ailments, dedicate more time and energy to our ministry and preparing for our son, support all my husbands needs, and to really pursue my callings in life more so than a paycheck, which usually ended up a disappointment, after practically killing myself to get it. Every time I have really sunk into my passions I have saved and earned more than I could anywhere else. It has been so encouraging to be THERE for some family and friends more than I have been able to in years. 🧡💛💚💙💜

So I am getting off track- but a lot of people were interested in finding out more about this teaching job and several have even applied! So I thought it would be good to do a quick and simple post about the requirements to work for VIPKID so anyone who is interested can see if this might work for them!! And so you can know if you can recommend to others too- It honestly feels SO GOOD to be able to offer someone a job opportunity! A flexible one too. I see it all the time on the internet, people asking for work from home opportunities, either to supplement their current incomes, or to be able to stay at home with kids, or to be able to work when disabled( I literally got this job in my bed in my sweatpants!), or to have a simple working opportunity when retired. Most opportunities I can offer people involve sales, and a lot of people are not comfortable with sales or multilevel marketing(which is the only kind of sales I am comfortable with, surprisingly, because I don’t like keeping inventory or having a boss really, I like to do my own thang!) So It is actually nice to be able to offer someone a STRUCTURED work opportunity. I mean, it is still on the person to get the job, and do what it takes to get the amount of hours/students they are aiming for, but a lot of people are not creative or disciplined enough to work in sales(or maybe just not passionate about selling things?) so this concept makes a lot more sense to most people. Plus you can get that feeling that you are making a difference in the world, teaching kids, giving them education and opportunities in life : ) I don’t know why I am so obsessed with helping people with work and finances, I have a dream that I won’t go into, but it involves me giving a lot of people jobs that they are passionate about, in a way that also helps me achieve my dreams, but anyway.. 📕📙📒📗📘

SO TO THE POINT! :
- You need US or CANADA Citizenship– you can work from anywhere in the world, but you must be legally able to work in the US and you do have to show proof!✅
- You need to be FLUENT IN ENGLISH And have a NEUTRAL AMERICAN ACCENT- if you have a strong accent it might interfere with the ability for the kids to learn the phonics, pronunciations, so see if you can hide it! I know from all of my travels that accent can affect everything, even when speaking the same language- and definitely when trying to learn!✅
- You need to have EXPERIENCE WITH TEACHING AND CHILDREN-I have taught all kinds of things, I have a very wide array of experiences but I don’t think any of them are traditional and I think you can be creative in showing how you have experience! Babysitting, tutoring, summer camps, afterschool programs, sunday school, homeschooling, educational activities with your kids, scouts, coaching, traditional classroom teaching- just think of all your experiences, and show that you have both taught and worked with kids!✅
- You need FOUR YEARS OF HIGHER EDUCATION– field isn’t necessarily relevant, ( I have a social work degree) but you do have to have a BACHELORS DEGREE. It can be from anywhere, and you do have to prove this with transcripts or diploma.✅
- You need the necessary technology requirements-
- DESKTOP OR LAPTOP with
- CAMERA
- MICROPHONE
- INTERNET(stable internet)
- I think you could work with what you have for the sake of getting the job, but I highly recommend noise canceling headphones with mic, separate webcam, and you will also need a MOUSE to move things around on the slides!
- I linked the equipment I have in my last post, using amazon links, you can check there, I spent about $25 on webcam and $25 on headphones and just worked with everything else I had. Trust me, my laptop is absolute trash most days so feel reassured yours is probably workable. ✅
- Oh and the last thing, you need to be able to create some kind of backdrop or setup and a few props, but as I mentioned in my other post, I was straight up using a plastic tablecloth as a backdrop, I did the demo in my floor in front of my bathroom door using a tote of christmas decorations as a desk at 5am, I did my first mock interview in my closet, and I did my second mock in my bed, the photos you see with the purple backdrop were in my bed… and some props I used, a random beanie baby, a mini white board from dollar tree, one of my sons toy cars, and some dollar tree flashcards with photos of animals. Don’t necessarily follow my example(unless you need to) I am just trying to be encouraging here! 🙂 Oh and if anyone wants to buy an orange tshirt to look like a team player- I got one for a few bucks from Michaels 😉 💡 Although a few times it was dirty or I couldn’t find it, so in one of my interviews I had on an orange camo shirt that was my husbands, and in my profile photo and video I put on neon pink, because I thought it might make me stand out!

JUST REMEMBER YOU ARE MARKETING YOURSELF! If you believe you qualify and you apply- remember you are marketing yourself to the company- and next they will decide IF THEY WANT YOU and HOW MUCH THEY WILL PAY YOU! They go by your application, your experiences, your demo interview, and you want to make yourself look as PERFECT FOR THE JOB as you can (while still being honest, don’t lie because you do have to prove if you have teaching degrees, diploma etc) Don’t go into it with an, ” I’ll guess I’ll just see if they are interested in me” attitude! There are a lot of teachers and the company has been rapidly expanding this past year. (There are a lot of students too though!) If you want the amazing benefits this job can offer- working from home, flexible schedule, opportunity to focus on other things while still working, no commute, home with kids, ability to work with kids one at a time instead of a whole classroom, extra income, ability to have this in addition to other jobs and incomes, ability to work in pjs, opportunity for bonuses and extra income, ability to work while having health issues or disabled, a job without a boss breathing down your neck, a job without coworkers, whatever is important to you in seeking this out- if you want those benefits- then act like it! Show up, put your best mindset and face on, and MAKE YOURSELF LOOK GOOD. 🙂
So I will end it there, here is my referral link to find out more or to apply and see if you qualify, I have already had several friends apply, its a simple process, let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything I will be happy to coach you through it, and I am hoping the best for you! : )
