So a lil stats update:
My son is now a teenager.
We got another court date for the end of February.
It has now been, I think, 5 years and 5 months since we met him.
Been in the adoption process for years…
Just bought plane tickets. again.
Just paid for and started the expedited home study update, because everything was expired.
For anyone who missed it, on our last trip in October/November, our court date was canceled and was not rescheduled in time so we came home to hustle for more money.
So today as I was running around cleaning up the house a bit for our home study while also thinking about having to pack again (some of my bags I never unpacked, I just had to block it out and take time to process everything.) I was listening to some music and a song just hit me all in the feels and I was just like…. forget this I am making a video.
With all of my trips and travel, especially the last two with my son, its such a hard culture shock/depression/reality check thing when you get back, that I can’t ever force myself to look at pics or videos or write about it or unpack. But today I was struck in the heart by some Lecrae and had to get to work.

Most of the photos in the video were taken by my son, he LOVES our Canon Powershot . Its basically his now. I bought this camera for our honeymoon because we went to the cutest cabin and I wanted to be able to take photos. My son loved it so much he drew an awesome picture of it.

He is actually super smart with it, he figured all of it out in basically a half hour, and loves making lil videos and taking photos of anything and everything. It’s nice actually because nobody really takes photos of me, except sometimes my dad will do a few paparazzi shots, but other than that I rarely see myself. It’s almost shocking to see photos of yourself sparingly as you age and as life slings you around destroying you… (Currently doing a weight loss challenge/fundraiser as I mentioned in a post the other day- want to become a better version of myself- and soon!)

I like that camera because its so small and simple, we have a NIKON that I totally baby and don’t take everywhere. I wont take it anywhere that its going to be a hassle, a theft opportunity or in the way, I love that camera and don’t want it to get damaged because I will not be able to afford another one. Amazingly it got some bubbles dumped on it at our childrens home and was okay after the ol rice in a bag trick. So I usually take the Canon everywhere just for convenience- its purse size and has a lil pouch. Our beloved chocolate drop was wearing it around his neck pretty often and capturing all kinds of cool stuff and memories. One thing I truly loved, was when he found a car in my bag I was planning to give him if I needed a distraction and things got hectic or stale(things got hectic and stale the whole trip lol) he was so thrilled to find the car, and it was night, so he borrowed a headlamp to use as a light so he could capture the car on camera, you will see that in the video- I had to include it. My absolute favorite though- is whatever in the world this camera did at the end of the video, I was just capturing scenery so I could RE-LIVE the drive in Uganda (we drove ALOT) but this drive was breathtaking, for a lot of reasons, and the lil pink stripe that you will see on there is my favorite.
So I am back to work getting tons of financial documents, background checks, fingerprints, and other documentation updated quick, fast, and in a hurry before our next trip! (there will be one more after that) Enjoy this lovely video/photo compilation I truly loved making : )
